Hidden Symbols in Hip-Hop Culture

in

Hip-Hop dominates the contemporary popular culture. Hip Hop's unique rhythms and rhymes, fashion, and dance moves are some of  its aspects that attract young people today.  Consequently it's popularity has spread far beyond America and and influence artists worldwide.  Prominent Asian artists such as Jay Zhou also utilize elements of Hip Hop in their works to create interest hybrid styles.  The Hip-Hop scene of 2009 is pretty much dominated by Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna and the likes. They not only are successful in music, but also own other business ventures.  For instance, Jay-Z owns Rocawear, Kanye West owns KW  Foods. These young artists/tycoons are the inspirations for many young people.  However, these artists also use a lot of occult symbols that young people who have not studied those symbolisms would never understand or even notice.

Other than the music, and fashion, one of the most imitated aspects of Hip-Hop culture has to be the many hand gestures. Those who like Hip Hop will not be unfamiliar with Jay-Z's famous "Diamond Cutter" gesture. Most people believe this is just a simple diamond shape, however, if observed closely, we can see that there are two versions: one with the thumbs horizontal forming a triangle, and the other with thumbs pointing down, forming a diamond.

To those unfamiliar with symbolism, this is just a simple diamond hand gesture, however, it actually has hidden meaning. Those familiar with with the study of mysteries may recgonize this gesture looks very much like the pyramid of the "Eye in a Triangle", or the "Square and Compass" of Freemasonry. Why are these symbols found in Hip Hop? Why does the general public believe these are just simple party signs? If there are hidden meanings, then what are they?

Many signs indicate that Jay-Z is a member of Freemasonry. It is not easy to fully understand this organization, because it has many branches all around the world.  It also has many different "levels".  Members belonging to the entry levels are not told the true natures of the organization, and mostly receive low level propaganda. Each branch is controlled by its "capstone", and all branches are controlled by yet another "capstone" and so on. Typical members just believe they belong to a charity organization of some sort.

In order to further understand the current state of the mainstream Hip Hop culture, let us observe what other hand gestures are used by Hip Hop stars.  One of the most common ones is the "sign of the horns". This sign involves sticking out the index and pinky finigers, while pressing down the middle and ring fingers with the thumb. As described by it's name, this sign looks like the devil's horns. Unfortunately, it also looks very similar to the "I love you" hand sign. Although the "I love you" sign requires the opening of the thumb, they still not very similar. At the same time, the University of Texas' football team also uses this sign as their team sign, so there are many different reasons or excuses people can use when they flash this sign.

Many people also confuse this with the "Rock On" sign. However, what this sign really is referring to is the devil, hence the "devil's horn". Most people cannot believe this, after all so many celebrities use this sign.  Even though it may be related to Satan,   maybe they are just flashing it for fun? If we want to know if they are just flashing it for fun, let us examine the next sign.

The sign in the picture above is the Baphomet, and idol worshipped in Satanism. Why do so many celebrities flahs the Baphomet sign? Perhaps if one wants to make it in Hollywood, they must show allegiance to Satanism? If you don't believe this sign represents Baphomet, then the picture below will show it more clearly.  These celebrity are not even trying to hide anything. It's just that most people do not notice them even when right in front of their eyes.

Merely three examples of these symbolisms were provided in this article. The point is, perhaps we should start to realize what seems ordinary in society and culture may contain hidden meanings. Before we follow the crowd like sheeps, it may be wise to first take a deeper look into what you are imitating.
